In the quiet mountain town of Revelstoke, where nature’s drama plays out daily in shifting skies and alpine views, one of our recent projects proves that exterior lighting can do so much more than just guide the way; it can completely transform a home’s presence!

From subtle architectural uplighting to statement sconces that frame the entryway with style, we designed a lighting plan that not only brightens but also elevates. Because when the sun sets in a place like this, your home should still shine.

A Thoughtful Lighting Plan, From the Ground Up

Lighting the exterior of the home is one part function and one part flair. For this particular project, we knew we wanted a layered approach. Something that would highlight the architectural features of the home, provide safety and security, and still feel warm and inviting… and stylish!

We partnered with EW Electrical Wholesalers to bring in arange of high-end lighting solutions from some of our favourite vendors.

Front and Centre: Hinkley Wall Scones

The exterior of a home marks the first impression, so we chose Hinkley wall scones to make it count! These fixtures blend classic lineswith a modern matte black finish, balancing the rustic charm of the mountain landscape with a clean, contemporary edge. They add instant polish and a welcoming presence, day or night.

Subtle and Sleek: Lotus Recessed Pot Lights

Next, we brought in Lotus recessed pot lights, the silent heroes of our lighting plan. These were installed in the soffits and under overhangs to softly wash the home’s façade in light and create a consistent glow that is equal parts practical and atmospheric.

Minimal in design but mighty in impact, lotus lights are our go-to for creating smooth, ambient layers. They disappear during the day and dazzle in the dark!

Architectural Drama: Eglo Up/Down Lights

One of our favourite moments of the entire project is the addition of Eglo up/down lights that illuminate the vertical lines of the home.Strategically placed along walls and pillars, these fixtures play with light and shadow to create a dramatic yet elegant look!

They add an architectural interest and highlight the texture of exterior finishes, especially when the snow starts to fall, and contrast becomes everything.

Why Outdoor Lighting Deserves a Spot in Your Design Plan

It’s easy to focus all your attention on interior lighting, but the truth is, a well-lit exterior is an extension of your home’s personality. It sets the mood before you even walk inside and ensures your design story doesn’t end at the threshold.

Whether you’re renovating or building from scratch, investing in good outdoor lighting is one of the smartest and most stylish decisions you can make!
